  2. 1.5 now allows, in addition to all previous options, searches to be
  3. made in individual file areas.  There is nothing new to configure.
  4. This option is available from the searcher prompt.

  11. This program is an extension for Mansion V8.xx.
  12. It will allow you and your users to search for text matches in all
  13. or selected libraries of your BBS. You may configure it to match
  14. your requirements of your BBS System including running multiple
  15. copies using seperate data files if you want to restrict searches
  16. for different access level assigned for your users.

  18. Library 'Files' Searcher is part of the Vision Communications Utilities package 
  19. that as of Wednesday, May 8, 1991, contains...

  45. •• General Information ••
  46. 1. This program must reside at the SAME LEVEL AS "MANSION".
  47. 2. This program REQUIRES that you have your 'Mansion Scan'
  48.    file set up and in place (in the Mansion Data folder).
  49.    "Library Files Searcher" uses this file for the pathnames.
  50. 3. You must run this program from within Mansion!
  51.    (it will work either local or remote but not from the Finder)
  52. 4. You must add a menu cmd to Mansion (really?:) and add the
  53.    "Library Files Searcher" name to your Data Header file.
  54.     (see examples at the end of this text)
  55.         (You can also use your own 'menu'! See below)

  58. The following strings may need to be edited before using the program.
  59.  
  60. *String Number 2501 contains the absolute path for the location of
  61.         your 'Mansion Data' folder.
  62.         If your Mansion Data folder is in the 'normal' location
  63.         (within the folder that Mansion resides in), this string
  64.         does not need to be 'absolute'.  The default set in this
  65.         program when you receive it is :Mansion Data

  67.         If you have your Mansion Data folder located elsewhere, 
  68.         you need to change this string to reflect the absolute
  69.         pathway to the Mansion Data folder.  As in this example:
  70.         My Harddrive:Mansion Folder:Mansion Data

  73. *String Number 2500 contains the pathname for your Mansion Scan
  74.         file.
  75.         If your Mansion Scan file is in the 'normal' location,
  76.         the default string in the program will work. It is :
  77.         :Mansion Data:Mansion Scan

  79.         If you have your "Mansion Scan" file located someplace
  80.         else or have it named differently, you need to change this
  81.         string to reflect the absolute pathway. As in this example:

  86. Custom Menus: If you want to use your own 'Entry Text/Menu' rather
  87. than the one shown by this program...
  88. Make your 'menu' with a text editor.
  89. **Two things**
  90. 1. You must name the file Searcher Menu

  92. 2. Place the Searcher Menu file in your MENUS folder (within
  93.    the Mansion Data folder)

  95. If this file is present it will be displayed, if not, the simple
  96. menu that's built into the program will display.

  98. Your custom menu must still be named Searcher Menu and be located
  99.         in your Mansion Data:Menus folder. (wherever it is, the program
  100.         will look at STR# 2501 to see where to look).

  104. Configuration: As the program is, it will use your Mansion Scan file
  105.         (located in your Mansion Data folder) for the pathnames.
  106.         Using ResEdit, you will find that String #2500 contains
  107.         :Mansion Data:Mansion Scan
  108.         You may change the 'Mansion Scan' name to another name. This
  109.         would allow you to make a copy your original Mansion Scan file,
  110.         rename it, and edit it so that only the library areas you
  111.         want displayed will be searched. 
  112.         With this option, if need be, you should be able to have
  113.         multiple copies of the Library File Searcher program on
  114.         your system with each programs string 2500 edited, and 
  115.         allow users of different security levels access these
  116.         programs to only search what you want them to search!
  117.         (via the security level in your menu commands in Mansion)
  118.         The copies of the program still must remain at the
  119.         same level as the Mansion program, just name them differently.

  124. THE "Library Files Searcher" PROGRAM  **MUST** BE located in the
  125. same folder with MANSION, (setting beside each other:).

  130.    You MUST this program as an external from within Mansion.
  131.    You must set up a menu command to activate the program.
  132.    You must add the program info to the Data Header file for Mansion.

  177. The Mansion Menu command for this (and others) program can be in any menu
  178. EXCEPT the your library SUB-MENU, where the actual upload/download commands
  179. are located.  You may not run any external from these menus as when you return
  180. back to Mansion, Mansion will have forgotten where it's at.
